The butterfly valve sector has recently made progress in standards development and technological innovation, with the industry showing an accelerated shift toward high-end service conditions and intelligent control. As a device that controls fluid on-off and flow through disc rotation, butterfly valves play a key role in pipeline systems for water supply, energy, and chemicals thanks to their compact structure and rapid opening and closing.

In technological application, specialized butterfly valves for extreme conditions have achieved breakthroughs. High-temperature, high-pressure hydrogen-service butterfly valves that previously relied on imports have now been localized, effectively addressing hydrogen permeation and material corrosion challenges in the coal chemical industry and reducing key facilities' dependence on foreign technology. Meanwhile, automatic pressure-regulating butterfly valves for precision manufacturing fields such as semiconductors have completed product appraisal, with comprehensive performance reaching internationally advanced levels, supporting self-reliance in related industrial chains. In addition, an intelligent testing facility for extra-large-diameter butterfly valves has been put into operation, with significantly upgraded test diameters and pressure ratings, providing infrastructure support for quality validation of large equipment.

The standards system is being improved in parallel. A national standard for marine center-type butterfly valves has recently been revised and will soon be implemented, imposing more standardized requirements on product design and inspection. For ultra-low-temperature butterfly valves in the marine and offshore technology field, a draft national standard for design and test requirements has been issued for public comment and is intended to be identical to the
